A hiking tour in one of Norway’s most spectacular mountain areas. Numerous important historical events have taken place in this area. The road across Dovrefjell has served as one of the main travel routes since the Middle Ages and is the oldest connection between Oslo and Trondheim. The tour is literally a walk through Norwegian history, combined with spectacular scenery. The tour passes through easy accesible and varied high mountain terrain. Dovrefjell is also famous for its rich flora and fauna - and the musk ox!

Day 1:  Arrival at Toftemo Turiststasjon at Dovre. 
Day 2:  Toftemo - Fokstugu - Furuhaugli 18 km, 5-6 hours. 
           Steep climb uphill at the start of the trip before going down later. 
           The  first stop on the tour is Budsjord Gård, a heritage-listed farm with
           buildings dating back to the 1400s.
           You then start the climb across Dovrefjell to Fokstua and then from there on to Furuhaugli. 
           Overnight stay at Furuhaugli Turisthytte.
Day 3:  Furuhaugli - Hjerkinn, 15 km, approx. 5 hours. 
           Relatively high level mountain terrain with no major climbs uphill on this
           stretch. You pass by old hunting sites and Vesle Hjerkinn, which was the
           first Sælehus (medieval house) at Hjerkinn. 
           Overnight at Hjerkinn Fjellstue.
Day 4:  Hjerkinn til Kongsvold, 15 km, approx. 5 hours. 
           Upward climb from Hjerkinn to the tour’s highest point Hjerkinnhø,
           1288m with a magnificent view of Snøhetta and Rondane. 
           Overnight at Kongsvold Fjellstue.
Day 5:  Musk-Ox safari. Join in on a Musk Ox safari, the local guide has alread been checking out the
           possibilities to see animals and there are prette good opportunities to see one or two - in the
           distance. Bring your own binoculars!  This is not a everyday happening, but will be a memorable
           end to an eventful week in the National Park Dovrefjell.
           Overnight stay at Kongsvold Fjellstue.
Day 6:  Departure. Train or bus.
