Rambling stay at Hindsæter Fjellhotell (Mountain Hotel)  

Hindsæter Fjellhotell lies like an outpost to the mountain area and to the National Park Jotunheimen, 900 m asl. Here in the beautiful Sjodalen in Vågå you are offered hospitality in traditional surroundings from the hosts Karola Wenzel and Andre Sundero. As early as in the 1800’s Hindsæter hosted guests in the mountain farmhouse. In 1898 the first hotel was build and you can still today sit in front of the old fireplace in this part of the hotel, and enjoy your tea after a day of experiences in Jotunheimen, - just as they did 100 years ago!
We have daily walks with tour leader from Monday to Thursday.

Sunday: Arrival.
After a good menu André and Karola inform about the plans for the week and tell the story of their hotel and
summer farm.
Monday:
We begin the rambling week with two small peaks on the south of Sjoa valley; Sjolikampen (1370 masl) and
Sjugurdsjøpiggen (1534 masl). Start point will be the summer farms in Sjolia at 900 meters level. Amazing view northwards to
Dovrefjell, to Reinheimen and Rondane, westwards over the peak world of Jotunheimen. We will also pass the famous point
“Riddarspranget” where the river Sjoa formes a deep and narrow canyon. Height difference appr. 700 m
Tuesday:
Walk over the Knutshø ridge by Lake Gjende. Spectacular panorama view almost the whole trip. Typical mountain flora,
lots of cultural interesting points, incl. view to the famous, but sometimes very busy Besseggen ridge. Back through the valley the
nice lakes invite to a cold and refreshing bath! Height difference appr. 500 m
Wednesday:
By car to Griningsdalen Valley, where the goat herds stay the whole summer. By foot through open landscape up to
Griningsdalshø (1568 masl) and over the wide ridge to Stuttgongkampen (1416 masl). Descent through birch forest with rich
mountain flora to Hindsæter. View over Sjodalen Valley with the Sjoa River, all the big and small lakes and streams. Height difference
550 m
Thursday:
Peak ascent to one of the Hindnubbene peaks. We start from Hindsæter crossing the highland area Hindflya to the feet of
the 2000 m peaks. Depending on the weather and our shape we choose one of the peaks. Panoramaview over Veodalen Valley and
Glittertind massive from the top. Height difference ca. 1200 m
Friday:
Departure after breakfast or extension of stay for more trips on your own.
