The Arctic Ocean Coast is a paradise for those who want a real island adventure on a bicycle.
Take a deep breath, fill your lungs with fresh sea air, and feel the wind in your hair as you set off in an exciting and beautiful landscape made up of large and small islands.
From the lively city of Tromsø surrounded by mountains, fjords and islands, the route goes through the beautiful and varied nature of Kvaløya via Kattfjord, outwards to the fishing location and island Sommarøy (meaning Summer Island). After a short ferry trip the tour continues to Senja, Norway's second largest island. The road along the west coast of Senja winds through magnificent and wild nature, uphill and downhill - in and out of fjords. The road passes Senja Troll, Norways largest stone troll.
The next island hopping is by ferry to Andøya, and new adventures are waiting for you. The island offers beautiful sceneries, with its large and continuous marshes, steep mountains and sandy beaches. In Andenes you have the possibility to sign up for an exciting whale watching, or you can visit Andøya Space Center, whit the spaceship Aurora. From Andenes you continue to the sandy beach at Bleik, before staying overnight in a cozy, small guesthouse with real homemade cooking. Take your time to explore the island before crossing Risøysund to Sortland.
The second last day you bike to Stokmarknes. From here, you can choose whether to continue the bike ride towards Svolvær, or go by the ship - Hurtigrute. Both options give you great sceneries. The tour ends in Svolvær - the "capital" of Lofoten.
